FINALLY BONGBONG MARCOS LEADS LENI ROBREDO!

Sen. Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. trounced Liberal Party vice presidential candidate, Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo, in the overseas absentee voting (OAV) based on the final and unofficial tally released by a Commission on Elections (Comelec) official on Saturday.

The OAV votes are being given close attention as these could play as swing votes in the tight battle for the vice presidency between Marcos and Robredo. Only 216,000 votes separate Robredo and Marcos based on the data from the Comelec-GMA 7 transparency server.

As of 6:45 p.m. Saturday, Robredo has 14,016,126 votes while Marcos got 13,799,835 votes. Voter turnout came in at 31.4 percent, a big improvement from 16 percent in the 2013 midterm elections where only 118,823 of the 737,759 voters were able to vote.

"Looking at the glass as half full instead of half empty, we are very pleased to know that the turnout is already very high  and very satisfactory," Comelec Commissioner Arthur Lim, head of the OAV committee, told reporters.
Lim cited the level of efficiency of the postal service and "high mobility" of overseas Filipinos, who are primarily abroad looking for greener pastures, as reasons for not meeting the voter turnout target of 50 to 60 percent.

"They are there, 100 percent para maghanapbuhay. Yung pagboboto ay number two or number three priority lalo na kapag malayo ang pagbobotohan nila," he said.
